Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan College of Teacher Education is established in Kallekkad, Palakkad, Kerala which is one of the prestigious institutions preparing the future of education. This college for boys and girls was founded in 2008 and has been producing prospective teachers for more than ten years. It is associated with the concerned university and has undergone accreditation by NAAC which shows the college’s concern for quality education. Having received accreditation from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the institute makes available a sound four-tier B.Ed programme with facilities on its five-acre expanse. A total of 200 students are admitted into the college and the college boasts of a faculty population of 16.
The college has a variety of learning facilities to improve the learning experience of the students. The library of Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan College of Teacher Education which is one of the essential sources of learning is a partially automated facility that currently boasts of more than six thousand books and titles. It has the provision of comfortable seating for 50 students at the same time and has the provision of computers, internet and print media. Indeed the college has well-equipped ICT and language labs for enhancing technological and communication skills among the college students. An audio-visual lab with smart boards and projectors supplement this process for the students. To cater for the need for all-round development of students, the college also has sports facilities and as such separate hostel facilities for boys and girls also. A canteen, an event/ seminar hall, and a guest house for its faculty members and some family members are also available on the campus they have.
Currently, the College of Teacher Education, Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan offers only one main course which is a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed). This course is done full-time and takes two years to complete with an approved intake capacity of one hundred students. The B.Ed program aims at preparing teachers who demonstrate proficiency, competency, professional knowledge, understanding and ability to practice teaching competently in their expected areas of practice.
