Biju Pattnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO), set up in 1998, is one of the premier autonomous specialist institutions situated at Cuttack, Odisha. Situated in a very small area of 4 acres, this institute is centred on training and enhancing talents in the motion picture and television industry. BPFTIO offers three programmes; all these programmes take three years of study and include Cinematography, Film and Video editing and TV and Sound Engineering. Annual student enrolment is 128 and the total faculty members are 9, thus enabling quality student-faculty interaction for media institute aspirants.

This institute has all the necessary facilities to accommodate learners’s creative and technical work on its territory. Equipped with all the requisite books and literature related to aspects of cinema, the library is the major academic facility in BPFTIO. The library also avails updated collections with internet facilities in executing their research and learning activities. For the students who need to be accommodated, BPFTIO provides different hostels for boys and girls; these hostels have 50 seats each. These hostels give discipline and group care that includes door-to-door security, a disciplined study timetable, TV and reading rooms, etc., and indoor and outdoor games facilities.

These programmes are the Diploma of Cinematography, Diploma of Film and Video Editing and Diploma of TV and Sound Engineering. Each course is structured to give the student adequate information regarding the area of specialisation, with emphasis on both the concept and the application of that knowledge.

Fixed admission facility for the students at BPFTIO is based on the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE). Any student who wishes to join any of the diploma programmes offered by this university must sit for the OJEE which is the main entry point to the institution.
