The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology at Mysore, also recognised as CIPET Mysore, was started in 1991 and is committed to petrochemicals formation and technology education. This institute, situated in the Hebel Industrial area is Mysore, Karnataka, is an Institute which is approved by AICTE – All India Council for Technical Education. CIPET Mysore conducts three full-time courses, two diploma programmes and one M.Sc. programme. At present the Institute has faculties of 25 M. Teaching only the specialised students in the field of petrochemicals. Details of courses and curriculum taught by the institute show the institute's commitment to providing quality education.
CIPET Mysore is affiliated with Mysore University. CIPET Mysore has developed modern infrastructure facilities to meet the aims and objectives of the centre. The more famous of them is an institute library where there are more than fifty thousand books and journals describing the tendencies in the sphere of plastics and polymers. They have a fully automated library with the Automated Library Management Software system supported by RFID technology. To enhance practical experience, the campus boasts of ultra-modern laboratories for those intending to pursue the course in their areas of speciality. Hostel facilities for boys and girls are available for the students who need it; the facilities for these hostels include internet rooms, gyms, Lounges, Dining halls etc290. It also has an excellent hall with the seating capacity of 250 people to include lectures, training, and conferences, among other events. This meal facility serves quality food to clients with special emphasis on health and costs and also makes clients feel part of a college community.
The institute provides a total of three full-time courses at various levels in the discipline of petrochemicals and plastics. These include two diploma programmes: Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology, which are conducted for two thousand and five hundred students each, including 60 intakes for each programme. Further, CIPET Mysore runs M.Sc in Polymer Science for 30 students. The diploma programmes take three calendar years to complete, while the PGD programme takes two years. CIPET Mysore has a total student strength of 150 in all programmes of the institute, where the students are imparted specialised knowledge in the selected speciality areas of the petrochemical industry.
CIPET Mysore has the following admission procedure that will ensure it gets a pool of eligible students with the right attitude for the specialised programmes offered. Harnessing capable and motivated students for the concerned specialised programmes forms the admission processes that have been set in CIPET Mysore. The CIPET JEE is also used to accept applications for enrolment into the diploma and postgraduate diploma courses offered in the institute.
