Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Kolkata was established in the year 1973. It is an autonomous college of Jadavpur University Kolkata. CSSSCAL has received various grants from the ICSSR and the Government of West Bengal. The institute offers various courses at postgraduate and doctoral levels. The candidates are required to meet the CSSSCAL eligibility criteria and admission requirements which varies from course to course. The candidates are required to give the academic test and interview conducted by the college for admissions. The CSSSCAL admissions will be based on the academic tests and personal interview.

CSSSCAL provides many facilities on the campus for the students like Library with more than 35,000 books on social sciences, cafeteria which is usually open throughout the working hours, auditorium facility to organise various events and seminars and many more facilities.
