Chatia College, Biswanath, was started in the year 1982 in Sootea in Assam and is a co-educational college. This affiliated college informs a wide list of undergraduate programmes over mainly arts and humanities. The college currently has 819 students enrolled overall, but the distribution of the sexes is nearly equal, with 52% female and 48% male students. The faculty is 18 talented teachers who help students to complete 8 classes within 2 degrees. Chatia College offers different streams in various faculties, such as Assamese, English, Education, Political Science, Sanskrit, History and Economics for the students. 

Chatia College Biswanath has made provision for various amenities that are used in the college with a view of improving the students learning experience and their general growth. It is primarily an academic facility that supplies materials relevant to learning and scholarly works. With a view to meeting up with the modern trends, Chatia College has provided sound IT facilities to enable the students to support their learning with IT tools. Chatia College has a total of eight programmes which are all full-time programmes. The BA programme is the flagship of the college, and a variety of areas of specialisation are offered in the major programmes. These include BA programmes with majors in Assamese, English, Education, Political Science, Sanskrit, History, Economics, Accounting, Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Law, Bioscience and many more. The college has a total student intake capacity of 790, which clearly shows that only a large number of students can be given quality education.
