The College of Teacher Education, Mangaldai, was established in 1973 with the aim to develop future teachers. This co-educational college is in Darrang, Assam, spread over an area of 3.04 acres of land. It is affiliated with a university, hence comes with certain educational standards that the university sets. It is a matter of pride for the college that it has been approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). thereby providing a good student-teacher ratio, bearing in mind the college takes an intake of 100 students while the faculty has been established at 16.

Though this particular is the only degree offered in this college, the programme puts emphasis on preparing the students for a teaching profession.
