Courses are available here at the Dayanand College of Law at both the UG as well as PG levels, and even a PhD. The UG programme may be pursued under both the five- year as well as the three- year modes. The former may be pursued immediately after school, while for the latter, a minimum of graduation is needed. The five- year programme is an integrated BA plus LLB programme, but the latter is a standalone one. The LLB of course is the standard degree offered to Common Law countries’ legal study graduates. At the post grad level, the two- year duration LLM programme is offered here. At this level, the studies get more specialized. This is the programme where research is highly encouraged. There is another LLM which last for a single year only. This is only in corporate and commercial laws, open to students with a higher graduation percentage than is the one for two years.
Besides these, there are post graduate diplomas also on offer here. One of them is on Legal Process and Soft Skill. A certificate course may also be pursued in Human Rights. There is also a doctoral programme. Research is another important aspect at the Dayanand College of Law in Latur. Several students have been awarded an M. Phil to acknowledge their research credentials. There is a separate Research Centre of Commerce and Management. Several Minor Research Projects (MRPs) have been undertaken by the college. The Dayanand College of Law has always believed in providing benefits to the broader society. The students here have likewise been instilled with such value. And that is why the students of the Dayanand College of Law have been active participants in government schemes such as the NSS (National Service Scheme).
The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for girls here. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. An important aspect of law college life is the moot court contests. For this a separate hall has been curated, replete with all real court room paraphernalia. This then resembles the closest to the real model. This makes academics more interesting and concepts easier to grasp. The campus has adequate internet and computer facilities. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.
There is a separate cell here known as the “Gateway to SET/NET.” Here, students are trained on topics which will help them crack entrance exams such as the SET or the UGC- NET. So, subjects such as General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Data Interpretation, Research Aptitude, Reasoning and ICT are coached here. The Dayanand College of Law runs the Legal Aid Clinic. Through this, consultancy services are also provided to government organizations, NGOs and the general public. The key areas of concern for this are in- Environmental Law, Constitutional & Human Rights, Family Disputes, Consumer Protection and others.
The Dayanand College of Law has also forged useful alliances and linkages to help students gain practical exposure, and for the faculty to exchange vital inputs.
