DIET Karimganj conducts two teacher education programmes: B.Ed and D.El.Ed. The selection process for students at the institute is such that it seeks qualified candidates for the B.Ed and D.El.Ed. programmes. District Institute of Education and Training admission process is designed to select the most deserving candidates.
District Institute of Education and Training, Karimganj admits students every year for its two-year regular courses. Total intake of the institute is 300, and it has 50 seats for each batch in both B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses. The DIET Karimganj offers 50 seats under the B.Ed programme per batch. The admission policy of B.Ed is made through a merit list prepared by the university. The merit list is taken from the candidate's academic records and his or her performance in the CAT conducted by the university to declare the list. Hence the most qualified candidates are brought into the programme.

DIET Karimganj also provides 50 seats per batch for the D.El.Ed course. District Institute of Education and Training admission to this course is merit-based, as determined by the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The selection may also be done based on other criteria as applicable under the policy of the state government or UT administration.
