The DOT School of Design (DSD) exists from 2020 that makes it many years younger than some of the other institutions in Chennai. Located in the industrialised Ambattur Estate, this design oriented institution teaching a high variety of specialised courses in design disciplines. However, within comparatively short time DSD has become one of the prominent participants of the design education process, making available 8 courses of 2 levels of degree.  

DOT School of Design has all the modern amenities required for a design school as per its course offerings. As for the students, the library plays an important role in accumulating the large amount of literature on design and other reference sources. The college has recently invested in state of the art equipment and now has one of the best IT support for students’ to enable them work with current technology and design soft wares. There is a fully functional laboratory setup which is one of the biggest selling points of this unit. These labs are conceived to offer the full process of designing products for industry starting from ideas right through to the physical product end product.

DOT School of Design currently has 8 courses on offer, and all constituent courses are described as full-time programmes. The institute offers programmes at the bachelor’s and master’s levels in different domains of design. Currently, at the undergraduate level, DSD provides five Bachelors of Design (B.Des) programmes, all of which take four years of programme delivery. Some of them are B.Des in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Communication Design and User experience design. Aside from these courses, the school provides three M.Des programmes designed for more competitive students, which take 2 years to complete.

DOT School of Design has a largely design entrance exam-cum-interview screening process called the DOT-DAT (Design Aptitude Test). This test is intended to evaluate the creativity and design thinking of prospective learners that may be interested in studying this course.
