Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Pune, or DYPCOE, is a well-known constituent college established in the year 1999. The affiliated college, located in Akurdi, Pune, has a campus size of 32 acres and is approved by AICTE and PCI. The institute offers 7 courses in 4 degree programs. The total student enrolment is 321, and faculty strength is 23. 

The infrastructure of the institute is quite developed for students to learn and build themselves. The 465 sq. m library is well-stocked with a vast array of books, e-journals, and digital resources. There is a spacious reading room that provides comfort for 150 students. Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Pune (DYPCOE), is one of the most reputed colleges that provide a variety of pharmacy programs, the college is following a merit-based admission process according to the rules formed by the Government of Maharashtra. DYPCOE offers graduates, postgraduates, and doctoral degrees in pharmacy along with offering a total of 7 courses in different specializations. At DYPCOE, the admission process normally starts after the declaration of results for the relevant entrance examinations. For an undergraduate program like B.Pharma, admission is done based on the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) or NEET entrance exams. For postgraduate admissions, including the M.Pharma programs, the scores of the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) will be considered.

Usually, the academic session runs for August-September, and admissions take place in the few preceding months of this period. The candidate should then check on the official DTE, Maharashtra State website for specific dates or deadlines, as DYPCOE goes through the centralized admission process conducted by DTE. Specific eligibility criteria differ from one program to another. Candidates who qualify are those who have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics for B.Pharma. For M.Pharma courses, it is mandatory to have a B.Pharma from a recognized university. For Pharm.D however, admissions will follow the eligibility criteria set by the Government of Maharashtra.

Application Process

Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Pune has different application processes depending on the course:

For B.Pharma: 

  1. Qualify in MHT CET or NEET and get hold of a valid score. 
  2. Register on the DTE Maharashtra official website for Centralized Admission Process. 
  3. Fill in the online application form with payment of the requisite fee.
  4. Upload necessary documents as prescribed by DTE. 
  5. Choose DYPCOE among the preferred colleges during counseling.
  6. If allotted a seat, report to the college for document verification and admission conformation.

For M.Pharma programs: 

  1. Qualify GPAT with a valid score. 
  2. Register for the centralized admission process on the DTE Maharashtra website. 
  3. Fill in an online application form and then pay a fee for the application.
  4. Upload documents including the GPAT score card and B.Pharma degree certificate.
  5. Undergo the counseling process and select DYPCOE and your specialty of choice.
  6. If selected, complete the admission formalities at the college.

For Pharm.D: 

  1. Check the eligibility guidelines as per Government of Maharashtra. 
  2. Admission shall be applied as per the procedure laid down by the state authorities for Pharm.D admissions.
  3. Appearing in the Counseling round once shortlisted.
  4. Admission procedure at DYPCOE if selected.

Generally, the following are required for admission:

  • Class 10, 12 mark sheets and certificates Entrance exam score card (MHT CET/NEET for B.Pharma, GPAT for M.Pharma)
  • Degree certificates (for postgraduate courses Diploma certificate,
  • Category certificate, 
  • Valid ID 
  • Recent passport-size photographs

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: For the 4-year B.Pharma degree, admission is completely based on the MHT CET or NEET score. The program has 100 seats. The candidates must score non-zero marks for the entrance and must be qualified according to the DTE, Maharashtra.

M.Pharma: The specializations offered for M.Pharma at DYPCOE include Quality Assurance and Technology (18), Pharmaceutics (15 seats), Pharmacology (9 seats), and Pharmaceutical Chemistry (6). Admission is administered by the GPAT score and then by the centralized admission process of DTE, Maharashtra.

Pharm.D.; The 6-year Pharm.D program is granted admission of 30 students. The seats are allotted as per the rules framed by the Government of Maharashtra on the eligibility criteria prescribed in the official guidelines.

Dip. in Pharmacy: The college provides a Diploma in Pharmacy course to 60 students. The admission for that would then be subject to the guidelines of state authority.

College infrastructure have both showing their strength and same time showing the areas for improvement, hostel infrastructure is new and we also have medical facilities in campus, you get good quality food in cafeteria , also they have their own transportation facility for residential student

I will tell you the admission process and eligibility criteria in this particular college, this is as follows-

Admission process-

Admission is through counselling based on the rank obtained in Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET).

Eligibility criteria-

Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/Biology subjects and obtained the above mentioned marks (45% marks for Backward class and PWD candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) in the above subjects taken together. Maharashtra State candidates must have to appear for MHTCET.
All India Candidates need to appear for MHTCET/NEET. However, preference shall be given to the candidate obtaining non zero positive score in NEET over the candidates who obtained non zero score in MHTCET.

Dear Student,

The admission procedure is done through entrance examination. The entrance tests are, MHT CET and NEET. The minimum criteria needed for this examination is 50% in 10 +2th level as compulsory subjects along with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology. For backward category it is 45% marks in 10+2th level.

All India Candidates need to appear for MHTCET / NEET. However, preference shall be given to the candidates obtaining non zero positive score in NEET over the candidates who obtained non zero score in MHTCET.
