Medical laboratory technology is a noble field in today's growing health care sector, and to mark its significance, Dr.M.V.Shetty College of Medical Laboratory Technology is situated at Mangalore, and it was started in the year 1996. This affiliated college is situated at Vidyanagar, Kavoor, Mangalore, and it covers an area of 3 acres of area. Some of the speciality programmes provided at the institute include programmes in medical laboratory technology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The college offers a student enrolment of 184 students with a faculty of 12 numbers which forms a good learning ambience. It offers 2 courses spread across 2 degree levels; all of which are in various sub-specialities of Medical Laboratory Technology, hence upholding the quality education provision.

Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Medical Laboratory Technology is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, ensuring its programmes meet recognised academic and professional standards. Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Medical Laboratory Technology has facilities to support the students and help them improve their learning process. It also has stacks of books of more than 14,000 volumes, 40 national/international journals latest theses and allied resources to offer academic hostel students easy access to an ocean of knowledge, of late. For those who need to be accommodated, there are hostels, which are separated for boys and girls with adequate meals, comfortable and affordable accommodation, far from home. The campus also has a modern and well-equipped gym, a playground for shuttle badminton, volley ball and kabaddi, indoor games like table tennis, carom tournament and chess to enhance the students' overall personality.

At present, Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Medical Laboratory Technology consists of our full Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in order to accommodate students with different levels of learning. The undergraduate programme consists of four years of study toward a B.Sc in Medical LabTechnologyg, and DMLT. 

Initially, the Admission Committee of the Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Medical Laboratory consider the marks of the qualifying examination of the candidate as the criteria for admission into the College.
