Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Social Work, Mangalore is a private affiliated college situated at Vidyanagar, Mangaluru established in 1999. It is located in a 2.23 acres campus of the institute and imparts special education in social works. The college has 26 students from the current academic year and a faculty of 5 living together provides a personalised learning. 

Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Social Work has claimed various but special infrastructures that help support students’ learning and other needs. It is one of the recognised university library resources containing about 14000 volumes of subject wise books, 40 national and international journals, e-journals, theses of about 1400. There is specialist campus gym and sports trimmings of shuttle badminton court, volley ball court, and kabaddi court for students’ physical health. Being one of the pioneer institutions in delivering social work education, Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Social Work offers BSW, MSW, and BCA courses. It is a post graduate course, of two years full time duration, which aims at preparing the effective professional social worker. This focus is further evidenced by the fact that the college offers only one programme in MSW. 

MSW programme in Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Social Work follows the merit system, which includes the performance of the student in the conducted entrance examination and the qualifying test. The selection criteria follow a 50:System of 50:50 in which entrance exam results have been merged with the candidate’s previous academic records.
