It feels more like a modern recording studio than a school. The practice rooms, instruments and production software are all top-notch. It’s a great space for making, though the Hostel food can be quite boring since it’s catered from outside.
The lessons are perfect if you wanna learn pop, jazz, rock or music production. They have partnerships with various colleges worldwide notably, the Berklee College of Music in the US and other colleges in Europe, Australia, Germany, and Singapore. The teachers are active musicians, who know the industry well, though you need to be self motivated to keep up.
There are no traditional campus placements or guaranteed office jobs here. Instead, you get to work with visiting international artists and industry professionals. They give you skills to work as a musician or a producer, but finding jobs after graduation is up to your own hustle.
GMI is quite expensive. It is a big financial investment, but if you were serious about a career in contemporary music or wanna study abroad later, it’s a great launchpad. Just don’t expect a guaranteed paycheck in the end.
