The Degree college for women, Hussaini Alam came into existence in 1984 is to provide quality education for women in Hyderabad, Telangana. This affiliated college fulfils its mission as a women’s college with affiliation to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and aims at offering the best education to the girl students. Located on four acres of land, the college offers education to 1937 students of whom ninety-nine percent are undergraduate students, and one percent are postgraduate students. A small but dedicated group of 16 faculty members deliver 13 different courses considered across 6 degree programs, with emphasis on arts, commerce, and science.

It is the policy of the college to provide adequate learning facilities that could improve the learning environment. The library being one of the most important academic facility of the institution has a stock of more than 9,224 books of different discipline and national journals and periodicals and e- resources. Computer laboratory: Students are privileged to enjoy the services of two well equipped laboratories containing internet connected computers that help in development of computer skills. There are also specialized departmental laboratories which are essential for practical in classes taking Science subjects. In order to foster an all-round development of the students, the college has facilities for indoor and outdoor games and a fully equipped gym. The auditorium has been designed to accommodate diverse functions ranging from debates to seminars and the Wi–Fi enabled campus facilitates sufficient internet access for students and members of staff.

A wide range of disciplines and degree programs are available at the institution with something for everyone and for every career path one might seek. All the 13 are full courses and enable students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in their areas of specialization. It provides under graduate and post graduate courses, out of total enrolment of 1,476 students across all its programs. Although the graduation data for the above year are not available, the quality of the college is revealed in its courses and infrastructure.

All the students entering the Government Degree College for Women, Hussaini Alam, are admitted according to their performance and aptitude. The college currently provides several degree courses right from the Undergraduate level covering Arts, Commerce and Science stream and several Post Graduate courses in Urdu, Commerce, and Microbiology. For instance, the spirit of the institution offers the students an opportunity to have scholarships for them considering the fact that they need financial assistance. The reimbursement rates applied in the 2022 academic year reflected the college’s efforts towards making education affordable for every suiting candidate; whereby, 9% of the undergraduate students and 1% of postgraduate students benefitted from the reimbursement scheme.
