GEC Banka: Admission 2026, Cutoff, Courses, Fees, Placements, Ranking

Government Engineering College, Banka (GEC Banka) is a comparatively younger college with various engineering courses for future technologists. The college follows a merit-based admissions process for B.Tech courses to maintain a competitive and fair selection process. GEC Banka's admission process is primarily based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

GEC Banka admission process normally follows the time schedule of the JEE Main examination, which is normally conducted twice a year. If the candidate is interested in applying for B.Tech courses in GEC Banka, he/she is required to appear in the JEE Main exam as the first step towards the admission process. After achieving their JEE Main rank, shortlisted candidates are required to appear in the Under Graduate Engineering Admission Counselling for admission to their preferred B.Tech course.

To join GEC Banka, the students have to consider the counselling process of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) also. 

The counselling of BCECE takes into consideration two factors:

• performance in the BCEC Examination.

GEC Banka Application Process

The admission process of GEC Banka has the following application steps:

• JEE Main Application:
  • Fill out the application form for the JEE Main exam on the official NTA website.
  • Pay application fees and upload required documents.
  • Give the JEE Main exam on the given date.
• BCECE Registration:
  • Following the declaration of JEE Main results, get registered for BCECE counselling.
  • Submit the BCECE application form with precise personal and academic information.
  • Upload required documents as indicated by the BCECE board.
• Document Verification:
  • Report to the document verification procedure according to the BCECE schedule.
  • Carry original documents and their photocopies for verification.
• Choice Filling:
  • Once validated, participate in the choice filling procedure.

• Seat Allotment:
  • The seats are assigned based on merit, choice filled, and availability.
  • If a seat is assigned at GEC Banka, proceed to the next step.
• Admission Confirmation:
  • Attend GEC Banka on the specified date for confirmation of admission.
  • Deposit admission fees as stated and present all original documents needed.
• Orientation and Classes:
  • Attend the orientation programme at GEC Banka.
  • Begin classes following the academic calendar.

GEC Banka B.Tech Programmes Admission Process

GEC Banka runs six B.Tech programmes with a duration of four years. GEC Banka admission to all B.Tech programmes is the same and is based on JEE Main rank and BCECE counselling. 

The programmes along with their capacities are as follows:

• B.Tech Civil Engineering (60 seats)
• B.Tech Mechanical Engineering (60 seats)
• B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering (60 seats)
• B.Tech Electrical Engineering (60 seats)
• B.Tech Internet of Things (60 seats)
• B.Tech Computer Science Engineering (30 seats)

All applicants to these courses have to qualify JEE Main and go through the BCECE counselling procedure. Counselling is performed on both JEE Main rank and marks in the BCEC Examination. Shortlisted applicants may choose their intended course on counselling subject to available seats and rank.
