The Government Engineering College, Jamui, was established in 2018 with the purpose of addressing the growing demand for good technical education in Bihar. This is a co-educational institution situated at Jamui, Bihar, and comes under the affiliated colleges, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. Though newly established, GEC Jamui has surged ahead and has come up as one of the upcoming centres for engineering studies, with its first four B.Tech programs in branches of disciplines. The enrolment of students is  720 at the undergraduate level, with a faculty strength of 21, indicating a focused approach to education with potential for growth. It has been engaged in imparting comprehensive learning to students in its five major specialisations of engineering.

GEC Jamui has a concentration of sets of engineering programs; all of them are undergraduate degree courses. The college offers five full-time B.Tech programs, each with a duration of four years. These are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering. Every course has an approved intake of 60 students. This consistent intake across disciplines does indicate a balanced approach towards engineering education, and the enabling of equal emphasis on various fields of study. The college curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in their chosen area of specialisation so that they are fully equipped to face the challenges of the rapidly changing technological scenario.
