Government First Grade College, Kunigal (GFGC Kunigal) is one of premier educational institution located in Tumkur District of Karnataka. This is co-educational college with ordination from 1982 which has been providing education for over 4 decades now. 560 acres of land GFGC Kunigal is an affiliated college located nearby to the city of Kunigal in Karnataka and is NAAC accredited. The college at present has a total of 1,557 students and 24 faculty members, and it has provision for 14 courses in 6 degree programs. The student body comprises 534 male and 859 female students, reflecting a commendable gender ratio of 1:1.6 in favour of female students.

Government First Grade College provides a campus,.which has nearly all the facilities possible to support students through learning process. A—we have well stocked up college library that meets the need of the students of all disciplines. Science oriented students can attend state of art laboratories that give practical training. The campus also has Wi-fi connection hence every student is provided with internet facilities for his or her studies. Concerning basic needs, medical care is provided by a University health care facility which is on the University’s compound. The college also contains a cafeteria meant to provide stipend meals to students at a retail price that is affordable to students, this makes the students feel that they belong to one family. For those who have interest in sports the college has several sporting amenities in order to nurture these habits of physical activities and togetherness. An auditorium is a facility which provides for cultural troupes, seminars and other guest-speakers which helps to complement the total learning process.

The college is involved in provision of 14 courses, comprising of undergraduate as well as post graduate. Coming to the undergraduate level, basic offerings are Bachelor of Arts – (BA) with options like History, Economics& Sociology and the like with options to split them like History, Economics, Political Science as compulsory subjects and optional subjects as English, Kannada etc. Science stream provides the B.Sc for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science disciplines. For the learners interested in commerce and management the college offers B.Com and BBA courses. At post graduate level the courses that are available include Master of Commerce and Master of Arts Sociology for the students who wants to go deeper in their fields of specialisation. All these programmes are covered as full course programmes hence affording the students a chance to undertake full time programmes .
