Government Science College, Sikar, is one of the oldest fundamental colleges established in 1954 in Sikar, Rajasthan. For the last almost seven decades, it has been offering a variety of science programs at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  The admission process in the Government Science College is opened for all and on merit basis, while more specific admissions are to be made to students from the state. Thus, the whole foreign student body is made up of students from Rajasthan, having 100% students from the state. Therefore, this academic institution plays a significant role in promoting scientific potential in the region.

The admission cycle is usually within the academic calendar of the Rajasthan universities, opening applications a few months before the start of the academic year. Undergraduate applicants should have completed their high school education on a recognized board, that is, have passed 10+2 in science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology). Postgraduate applicants should have completed their undergraduate course of study in the relevant science area from an accredited university.

Application Process

1. Notifying the students: releasing of admission notification through official website, local newspapers, and notice boards.

2. Application Form: Candidates will then be required to fill up the application form.

3. Daftar Dokumen: Candidates are required to submit their complete application forms along with the required documents. These usually include:

• Ten-and-twelfth mark sheets, for students using U
• Mark sheets of Bachelor's Degree (for PG applicants
• Transfer certificat
• Character certificate
• Caste certificate (self-supporting)
• Recent passport-size photographs

4. Entrance Exam/Merit List: College to organize entrance exam or create merit list to admit all qualifying applicants, and based on the course numbers. 

5. Counselling: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a counselling session, where they can choose their preferred course based on the rank obtained and availability of seats.

6. Fee payment: All candidates who are allotted a seat will now have to pay their fees within the stipulated time for confirming admission.

7. Verification of Documents: Verification of all the submitted documents by the college before finalizing the admission process.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Sc Program: GSC Sikar provides two core undergraduate programmes:

1. B.Sc Maths Group: Approved intake for this course is 528 students.
2. B.Sc Bio Group: Approved intake for this course is 264 students.

Both B.Sc courses are designed for three years as a core foundation in core subjects of science.

M.Sc Programmes: Many postgraduate programs are transferred to different sciences. They are as follows:

1. M.Sc Mathematics: Approved intake of 60 students.
2. M.Sc Zoology (m.sc in zoology): Approved intake for 50 students.
3. M.Sc Botany (M.Sc. in Botany): Approved intake of 50 students.
4. M.Sc Physics (approved intake of 50 students).
5. M.Sc Chemistry (approved intake of 30 students). 
6. M.Sc Chemistry Self Finance: Approved intake of 20 students.

All M.Sc. programmes shall take two years to provide an understanding of advanced knowledge and research techniques in the fields concerned.
