Grameen Ayurvedic Medical College, Bagalkot, which was started in 1997 at Terdal, Karnataka, is an affiliated college. This is a premier institute in offering education in Ayurveda and is recognised by CCIM/CCIP, New Delhi. It occupies a large piece of real estate, an area of 15 acres in extent, and provides the calm and cool atmosphere we associate with learning institutions. The total student strength in the college is 227, and the faculty members are 31 in number; thus, the aim of the college is to provide individual attention and education. 

The Grameen Ayurvedic Medical College has a number of infrastructures that have been developed with a view to improving learning as well as the development of the learners. The library, which can be rightfully referred to as a house of knowledge, has a collection of over 10,000 books and concerns only current editions, complaint to which internet connection is also available and the Helinet connection in particular, which allows students to access more than 2,000 medical journals. focusing on an extensive list of resources available digitally, this increases the stock of the library for motor students as well as the faculty.  Such laboratories are used for demonstration as well as for strict monitored practice sessions in special procedures related to Ayurveda.

They have only one course in their institution, which is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), which takes a full six (6) years’ duration. The college has been given approval to admit sixty students in this course in order to enhance the student/faculty ratio. This focused approach relieves the institutional pressure to work across many fields and specialities and enables the organisation to specialise in providing quality education for Ayurvedic medicine.

At Grameen Ayurvedic Medical College, candidates will be admitted through a merit basis NEET for the current academic year. This national-level examination helps the college admit only students who have a strong background in their sciences and have an interest in the medical field. The NEET scores are the main admission benchmark used, which conforms the choice of college to the national requirements of medical education.
