The Indian Institute of Catering Technology and Hotel Management IICTHM was started in 1993 at Thanjavur and it is one of the prime institute of Tamil Nadu. It is male and female mixed institution located on 2.5 acres of area which is an affiliated college accredited by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Students can choose from thirteen programmes being offered by IICTHM, which is part of five degree courses relevant to the hospitality industry including hotel management, catering technology, and other related courses. Currently, the faculty of the postgraduate institute comprises of 15 teachers and for a student intake of 17 students, you are assured of personalised learning. Footprints of quality education in IICTHM can be depicted from the institute’s programmes which comprises of hotel management, catering technology, visual communication & Journalism.

To support the achievement of its objectives  Indian Institute of Catering Technology and Hotel Management has a number of infrastructural facilities that it puts at the disposal of its learners. In the college library, there are ample of vegan modern hotel management material available which includes new books, periodicals, and journals to familiarise the students with the updated knowledge base of the related industry. Their computing systems for computer aided education and training embrace the principles of Hotel Management based computing training for the institute’s students. There is also a canteen, an auditorium for events, seminars, sports facilities and a heath facility with first aid services on the campus. Further, all the needs of the visiting faculty or the family members of students, the institute offers guest house with all the amenities required.

In total, the institute provides 13 courses including diploma, under graduate as well as post graduate courses. Some of these are Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology, B.Sc Hotel Management, M.Sc Hotel Management and M.Phil Hotel Management, which are full time courses. The institute also provides some of the hospitality courses like Diploma in Food Production, Diploma in Food and Beverage Service and Diploma in Front Office Management. The total intake for each course maybe different but especially for the Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology the college has been approved to admit a total of 30 students. Currently, hospitality management studies include a rather vast variety of courses so that it allows students to choose the necessary course according to the sphere of hospitality industry in which he/she is to work.

The admission process of IICTHM is conducted to ensure that prospective learners have ability and passion for hospitality industry.  The institute’s courses are mostly full time to ensure that the trainees are taken through rigorous training to offer their services in the hotel management and catering technology.
