Apart from providing good placements and high return on the educational investment, IIFM has got many unique advantages over other colleges. It has some of the best faculties who not only make the course easier to understand but at the same time they will teach you ethics and are always helpful. Infrastructure is great and any requests for addition or repairs are taken into consideration. It also provides opportunity to work in the policy making and research sector so easily and courses are designed carefully which impart students with knowledge in various subjects ranging from Information technologies, Financial management, Organization behavior, Research methodology to Forest operations, Wildlife conservation and Sustainable development. I'm certainly grateful to this institution and the faculties who have provided me with this invaluable experience.

The atmosphere in this 220 acres campus is really awesome which keeps you fresh and charged for the whole day. The good morning is greeted by the peacock which makes your every day so natural. As soon you look out through the hostel rooms balcony, nature greets with its presence in the form of immense greenery in the campus. The hostel room with all the required amenities to feel homelike. The classes with all the advanced technologies required for the effective learning. The institute has the best faculties in each of the faculty areas with enormous experience and knowledge which has made the institute earn the 8th rank in the list of all India MBA colleges presented by the GOI.

Living and studying at IIFM is a dream come true.

This review is purely my personal one and based on my personal experiences. IIFM comes of the best places in India to learn and enjoy the nature and its management. It is a dream come true to anyone who wants to pursue higher management studies or research in the fields of environment, forests, and natural resources. It has few of the finest teaching faculty in the country for the courses it conduct. Its lush green campus surrounded with rich flora and fauna(especially peacocks and many other bird species) and its architecturally striking buildings and state-of-the-art infrastructure best supports the learning environment. Its hostels are well designed ensuring optimal space and ventilation to provide a very good living experience. IIFM intakes a limited number of students every year(120 for PGDFM) so there is a very good student-teacher ratio. It has appreciable academic, gender and regional diversity in its students. It is one of the most affordable top B-schools in India. IIIFM has 100% placement record for the PGDFM course since its inception with students being placed in various diverse sectors.

Judging from the 2 months I've spent here, it looks like I will have a great time here. Campus life is good and the entire IIFM campus is filled with greenery. The greatest strength of IIFM is the course outline as it covers both traditional management and forestry sector and the faculty that teaches this course is qualified as well as supportive. A lot is done for practical learning in forestry like our recent field visit to Van Vihar and Kesla.

The college life as in any B-school is a little hectic, and one needs to juggle between studies and co-curricular.College is good for those who wish to switch over into the specialized sectors.Placements though are a little on the downside but the professional growth is tremendous.

Students are very competitive Seniors are very supportive Faculties are friendly The Indian Institute of Forest Management is a sectoral management institute, which constantly endeavors to evolve knowledge useful for the managers in the area of Forest, Environment and Natural Resources Management and allied sectors. It disseminates such knowledge in ways that promote its application by individuals and organizations. Provide training in management and related subjects for persons from the Indian Forest Service, Forest Departments, Forest Development Corporation and Forest-related industries with a view to equipping them to practice the art and profession of management of forestry development. Inculcate an appreciation in those selected for training, that conservation is of overriding importance in the management of living natural resources and that the primary role of forests is the vital ecological and environmental purpose they serve. Select and prepare outstanding and talented young persons for careers leading to management responsibility in forestry and the forest-related system. Meet the need of Indian forestry and forest-related industry and commerce in respect of up-to-date information on forestry management through research, consulting and publication. Assist, institute and carry out research in matters concerning the use of management and allied techniques and methods conducive to the development of forestry in the country. Institute awards, scholarships, fellowships, prizes and medals in accordance with the rules and bye-laws. Create patroonships, affiliations & other classes of professional or honorary membership or office, as the society may consider necessary. The increasing population and thrust on economic growth after independence created a large demand on forests in respect of needs of rural people ( fuelwood, fodder), industrial raw material and diversion of forest land for non-forestry purposes (agriculture, river valley projects, mining). The signs of ecological degradation and pressure on tribals became clearly evident by 1970. The National Commission on Agriculture (1972) identified low investment leading to low productivity of the Indian forests as the major cause of failure of the forestry sector to cope with the rising demands and suggested substantial investments into forestry. It tried to achieve a balance between demands of industries and local people through concepts on production and Social Forestry. The efficiency of investments required managerial inputs from the field of management science to achieve the desired productivity. In 1974, Government of India, accepting the recommendations of FAO/SIDA Forestry preparatory Mission to India for provision of training unit to provide instructions in such fields as business cost control, economics of timber harvesting etc. requested SIDA to support a Business Administration Training Project (BATP) with the objectives: To contribute to the improvement of Management abilities in Forest Development Corporations, and To develop a resource for continuous forest business management techniques. The ensuing seminars under the project stressed the need for such training to all the personnel in Forest Departments and forest-related systems. The case for bringing renewable natural resource system under business management and for training managers on economic and business aspects as suggested by the Ford Foundation Consultant necessitated the creation of an institute to : Provide training in economic and managerial aspects of the forest-related area of associated primary wood based industries. Build the staff for conducting research on economic and management problems facing forest corporations as well as on economic and management problems growing out of the urgent need for managing all forest and non-cultivated lands. To create a pool of expert managerial consultants, which would be available to both public and private corporations or agencies. In 1978 , SIDA contributed a sum of Rs. 50 lacs to the Government of India which partly financed the collaboration fees for entering into an agreement with Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad (IIMA) for building the proposed IIFM. The ensuing philosophy behind creation of IIFM arrived at a seminar held at IIM Ahemdabad in 1979 which recommended that : IIFM should be a national Institute of education in the forestry sector, aiming at balanced development, conservation and utilisation of a forest-based ecological system in India, consistent with the economic and social development of the nation. Research, education, training and consultancy activities of the proposed IIFM should be directed towards meeting management education needs of the entire forestry system, particularly the forest departments and forest development corporations. It should have a wide enough degree of freedom to develop its particular identity and the culture needed within an educational setting to foster this identity. As the leader in its field, be concerned with pushing the frontiers of knowledge, providing specialised knowledge to various parts of a system which related to this field and helping the world of practice to use this knowledge.

IIFM Do management with Nature

First of all, I want to talk about infrastructure. The campus of IIFM, Bhopal is very huge with lush flora and fauna. Moreover, you can find a lot of Peacocks here! Then the classes are really good with all modern facility needed for education. Less of Bureaucracy and more of corporate minds would increase the exposure of the college. For the college life, I would share that a lot of co-curricular activities happen here which keep you entertained and worked up and to having the ability to get one with nature due to so good greenery in campus made my life so enjoyable here. Placement wise, there is more exposure in micro-finance and ngo organizations and forest and ecological sector job opportunities are low, especially for campus placement. The hostel is a simple and a typical one you will find in common institutes. But what makes IIFM special is its student body running MESS. The food is of very high quality in minimum budget. Taste maximizing in minimum budget. Talking about faculty, Nearly each and everyone in the institute is a renowned with full of knowledge and experience. Diversity is very good since 22 states' students have joined from our badge so there are a whole lot of languages, culture, and way of living mixed up. Talking about affordable, the college fees is very nominal compared to other institutes you go for management. Being the part of top 10 College for Management degree ( Rank 7 in NIRF Ranking), the burden on your pocket is lower.

Green Institute and Great Faculty

Posted on 10 Sep' 16 by Anchal

-We have real forest like the environment here. We have facilities but as a number of students have raised, the need for more infrastructure is felt and some of such plan are already being worked upon. -The faculty is great and one can interact with them as much as required. -Tight schedule. We have to make every second count. The culture of late night fun/studies is rocking. -Due to the bias of the name "Forestry", we have seen some limited companies coming for placements yet almost all are placed. Packages are acceptable and in the long run, one can do whatever they want in whatever field they like. -Living experience is great. I've seen lots of snakes in my 2-month stay and felt being real close to mother nature (real forest experience). -Diversity- In a batch of 104 students, 23 states are represented! -Best Institute in forestry management and allied sectors.

I still remember when I heard the name "Indian institute of forest management", I thought something related to management of wildlife, forest and their produce. Upon interaction with alumni and current lot of students I realized no, this is not what I initially thought, it has something different. I took admission and saw how beautifully the course has been designed, beautiful blend of forestry with general management under the guidance of some of biggest names of sector. Those two years of my life are gems, I still cherish memories gathered at its scenic campus. After graduating from IIFM, I realized this place has transformed me to a man from kid.

IIFM: A journey to cherish.

IIFM is one of its own brands and it's difficult to compare with another institute. Reason being: it not only gives you a good career but also a sense of responsibilities of uplifting the marginalised sections of the society and conserving nature and the environment. Additionally it gives you such a great platform from where you can build your career at any sector: core or sectoral. IIFMites have the USP of encroaching others area of expertise, but others cannot intrude into IIFMites core sector. IIFM has a 100% PLACEMENT records since its inception which itself speaks the volume about the capability of the institute. IIFM campus is situated on a Hillock which is surrounded by water body on three sides.Living in the campus is in itself a great experience. The faculty of IIFM is great and have in-depth knowledge about their subjects. They are always ready to share their practical experiences, thus promoting a healthy student-faculty interaction. In short I feel blessed and thank The Almighty for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this esteemed institute.

IIFM makes a difference, changes lives, shapes the future

Batch of Jan. 1, 2015
PGDFM has been an entirely enriching experience. The quantity and quality of resources available are overwhelming.Looking back at my decision to join IIFM, I could not have expected for a more rewarding and learning process to hone my skills towards grooming myself for a future leadership role. It has the finest professors, intelligent peers, excellent infrastructure, great placements and one of the best campus life in the country. The beauty of the campus cannot be described in words. The course evolves you as a person, liberates your mind and transforms you into a responsible person. In just 6 months into PGDFM, we completed 14 courses that form the foundation of PGDFM. The work includes submitting assignments, reports, case-studies, making class presentations, getting surprise quizzes, doing research projects and clearing the end term exams. But, the idea of fun was still finding time to play cricket/soccer/Chess/TT/volley ball;, enjoying movies and music;getting engaged in cultural events like drama and dance, doing adventure activities like Trekking/rock climbing/bunjee jumping and a lot more. I have indeed doubled my productivity. It is the IIFM effect that makes you not only business intelligent but also ecologically sensitive towards nature and wildlife. I am certain that down sometime in my life, when i look back, I would feel the two years at IIFM have been the most worthwhile and memorable experience. Cheers to IIFM, Proud being an IIFMite!

Best part of the college is studying in the laps of nature, situated in the hill surrounded by lakes with a very beautiful infrastructure. We'll be introduced to rural life during our field visit in first year and can have more experience during our summer internship. The faculty is also very good with addition of IFS officers to teach forestry subjects. All the student affairs are managed by students only. Return on investment is more than 100% with a record of 100% placement.

More than good college with a high ROI

Posted on 15 Jul' 15
"A college with a world class infrastructure as well as rated among top 10 most beautiful campuses across India, placements are More than good that too with a genuine 100% placement record. The ROI is much better than any other college in the league, even i would say if i have a choice of opting a college apart from top 20, IIFM would be my 21st choice. we have very good and experienced faculties, every one holding a Phd from reputed institutions(i'm being literal here) A library which is way too big for the students and very good sport facilities. overall this place is heaven, a place in the lap of nature, built on a hillock surrounded by forest and lakes, and trust me this is good enough to make u fall in love with IIFM and its beauty. PS : Don't visit the college in monsoon, else u'll surely fall for it."
