Indian Institute of Yogic Science and Research, Angul Admission Process

The establishment of the Indian Institute of Yogic Science and Research (IIYSAR), Angul, is a specialised institution for study and research into yogic sciences. Located in Jarasingha, Angul, in the state of Odisha, IIYSAR ensures thorough education in yoga studies. Admission at the institute is designed to select students who have a genuine inclination towards yogic practices and wish to delve into the serious study of yogic sciences. The institute places great significance on the student's interest and sincerity in devoting time to yogic activities conducted by the institute. This way, successful applicants will turn out to be the right choice for the intense and specialised nature of the programme.  The evaluation stage of IIYSAR's admission procedure is the interview.

A highly valued parameter in the selection of candidates, this interview is the stage at which IIYSAR admission can assess the applicant's true passion for yoga, their aptitude and understanding of basic yogic concepts, and their focused interests in pursuing advanced studies. At this point, the applicant becomes very much aware of what it takes to contribute to and benefit from the further research of yogic practice within the austere environment at IIYSAR. Further, all applicants need to undergo five medical fitness tests, as these are considered the bottom-line requirements in view of the physical nature of yoga practice. Such a medical fitness test guarantees that admitted students will physically work out during intensive yoga exercises and practices that pave the way to full integration into the curriculum, and must fulfill every present-day necessity of genuine safety of life.

IIYSAR Application Process

An elaborate process has been drawn out for IIYSAR admission to the MA Yoga programme to comprehensively evaluate the candidate's suitability for joining the course. The following steps outline the application procedure:

  • Application Submission: Candidates keen on the MA Yoga programme must apply to IIYSAR. Applications could not be expected to be filled up with any specific information in any specific order, but are likely to cover the areas of personal information, educational qualification, and any relevant experience in yoga.
  • Document Verification: The applicants will need to provide the required documents during IIYSAR admission procedure for document verification.
  • Interview: Selected applicants are called in for an interview. It is a key selection stage where the institute evaluates the applicant's:
    • Knowledge and understanding of yoga
    • Motivation for pursuing MA Yoga
    • Potential contribution to the academic and research field of yoga
  • Medical Fitness Test: The candidates who qualify through the interview stage undergo a medical fitness test. This examines the medical fitness of the applicant for an intensive yoga practice.
  • Final Selection: On the basis of interview performance and medical fitness test results, the final list of candidates selected is prepared.
  • Admission Offer: Information is given to the candidates selected. They are required to undertake IIYSAR admission processes, which include the payment of fees and submission of further documents.

IIYSAR MA Yoga Admission Process

The Indian Institute of Yogic Science and Research Angul offers a specialised Master of Arts (MA) in Yoga programme. This two-year full-time postgraduate course aims to provide students with a depth of knowledge on yogic concepts and practices. The intake capacity for the IIIYSAR MA Yoga programme is 64 students, thereby preserving a favourable student-to-faculty ratio and ensuring quality education.

Students gain IIYSAR admission to the MA Yoga programme through an elaborate selection process. The key components of this process are:

  • Interview: Candidates are required to appear for an interview conducted by the institute. This is crucial for assessing the applicant's knowledge, interest, and aptitude for advanced yoga studies.
  • Medical Fitness Test: Because of the physical nature of yoga practice, all applicants are required to undergo and pass a medical fitness test. This is to ensure students are physically capable of engaging in the intensive yoga curriculum.

The selection process aims to identify students who not only possess a strong academic background but are also physically fit and genuinely interested in the intensive study of yoga. The interview allows the institution to gauge the candidate's passion for yoga, their understanding of basic yogic principles, and their potential contribution to the field of yogic science and research.

IIYSAR Documents Required

  • Attested mark sheets and degree certificates
  • Age or date of birth certificate
  • Yoga training certificates or other training documents (wherever applicable)
  • Any ID proof
  • Recent passport-size photographs

To avoid any last-minute issues, applicants are advised to submit copies of essential documents in advance.
