About Indira Gandhi Women's College, Cuttack

Womens’ college in the state of Odisha began journey in 1980 with the establishment of Indira Gandhi Women’s College, Cuttack. Cuttack based Shelter Square affiliated college has been producing new generation souls since its beginning over forty years ago. It is easily accessible and situated on a relatively small piece of land of 1 acres but is fiercely proud of its NAAC accreditation. More focused on arts and humanities, currently it has 10 courses in 2 degree programmes which can satisfy the demand of customers with different fields of interest. The college is comprised of 167 students and is staffed through a faculty of 24 members to provide more focused assistance.

Indira Gandhi Women's College boasts of having provided a number of facilities that could complement the learning of the students. A library plays a role of a knowledge base centre where books are stocked to support learning and academic or personal development. Also for the needy, there exists a hostel facility which accommodates 100 students, the merit basis will be considered. Finally, the institution acknowledges the need to balance between the spiritual and the natural aspect; and thus, has made available sporting facilities to increase students’ fitness. The college has a sound infrastructure in terms of the information technology which, in this day and age, is most important; the college has a computer and a printing press with thirty processing units of computer and three processing printers respectively and all of these use a dual core processor with Windows 7 operation system. Students can also spent time laughing at the college canteen which provides refreshment items at subsidized prices. For applicational learning, the college has well designed laboratory for each department to enable the student make applicable experiments in respective fields.

There are in all ten courses offered in Indira Gandhi Women’s College; all 10 courses are full time. The college offers a general BA as well as various honours options thus ranging from the general BA honours courses. 

Indira Gandhi Women's College follows a strict policy to admit the students when the entrance examination test is over. Any student who wishes to join a certain class in any given level of study is given admission on merit alone.
