Institute of Aviation and Aviation Safety was founded in 1996 and is an affiliated college of Mumbai in the Maharashtra region. This special institute is dedicated to aviation training and is located in the heart of Goregaon East. The institute is located in a compact area of 0.28742 acre and offers a closely-knit working and studying ambience to its learners. IAAS has enrolled 181 students with 5 faculties the institution has good student/teacher ratio of 36:1 that enhances delivery of the instruction and focus on students. 

At the moment, the institute provides accreditation to only one degree course which is aviation related. IAAS has several physical infrastructures in its possession that help improve the student’s experience and their education in particular. The institute has a rich resource centre in form of library which makes the students to be in touch with lots of books and other literatures within the aviation related field. For those who might need some energy prior to the next lecture, there a cafeteria on the campus.  The institute also understands about the physic health of the students and that is why they have provision of sports and gym facilities for the students.  IAAS has an auditorium to facilitate seminars, guest lectures and other academic oriented activities during events and programme. The institute aims at embracing technological developments as evidenced by its sound IT facilities, which enhance various learning approaches. There are departmental laboratories that are training facilities essential to practical exercises in aviation subjects at IAAS. The institute also recognises the health of student as an important aspect; multipurpose health center with first aid facilities. Also, there is a guest room or a waiting area for guest faculties and even the family members of students whenever they visit the college. 

For the academic purpose the Institute of Aviation and Aviation Safety insists on giving specialised education in the field of aviation. Currently, the institute offers one full-time course: B.Sc Aviation. It is a three year curriculum, which is aimed at equipping students with knowledge within the field of aviation ranging from flight operations to management. The course also casts a total student take of one eighty one, which is in the line with an institute enrolment at the present period. The mentioned focused strategy enables IAAS to allocate necessary resources and capabilities to provide the exemplary education in the sphere of specialisation. 

The admission procedure of the Institute of Aviation and Aviation Safety is aimed at admitting students who have the potential in aviation field. It’s generally expected that candidates to the aviation institutes might be admitted based on their academic performance in 10+2 or equivalent exam result with pass performance in Physics and Mathematics. Some institutes also have tests for entrance or interview, in order to assess the potential of the candidate that desire to be trained and study aviation.
