Jaintia Eastern College was founded in 1992 and is a well known institution in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya, India. Located in a small 2.47 acre plot of land, the college has expanded its capacity to 406 students, with an equal male and female ration, 38% being males, and 62% females. The institution has a total of 38 dedicated members in the faculty to provide the students the best of education.

Jaintia Eastern College boasts of having a compound equip with intending apparatus all in prepared to improving classroom sessions that are conducted. The library forms a central part of learning and knowledge resource with a host of books and with recognised journal and digital media in e-journals and e-books through N-LIST. For science students, well equipped laboratories are available to fulfill practical knowledge requirements. There is also an aspect of students’ physical health as the college provides sports facilities and gym to help student lead a healthy life. Jaintia Eastern College runs 18 programmes across its 5 degrees of study with emphasis on undergraduate. Full time courses offered by the college include Arts and Science courses of which the college has been offering some of the most popular ones such as B.A. Economics, Political Science and English, B.Sc Botany, Zoology and Physics. The science programmes have a huge intake capacity, the B.Sc in Botany, Zoology and Anthropology and many more each having a seat intake capacity of 60. The college also provides the Commerce stream for the B.Com and B.Com (Hons) for commerce students. 

The admission process in Jaintia Eastern College is following the merit list criteria of state and central reserve policy. The college expects an average of 45% for science and arts courses respectively or better performance in the qualifying examination. There is an provision of 5 % relaxation for reserved categories. The primary basis for selections are the marks obtained by the candidates in Class XII examinations of a recognised board. At times, the college may consider an entrance test in which the result would be out within 24 hours at the earliest.
