Janata College of Education was built in the year 1959 and is an iconic education-shaping institute. It is situated in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra and is a co-educational college that has been training young aspiring teachers for more than sixty years. This 0.84-acre campus has an affiliated college approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Currently, Janata College of Education has enrolled 207 students and a faculty strength of 23, which provides an intimate setting conducive to personal growth and development as well as academic excellence. 

Janata College of Education has good facilities to make learning easy for students. A well-equipped library is also a depository of comprehensive knowledge while a computer lab, with 15 LAN-connected computers and the internet facility, ensures that the students are well-versed in modern education technologies. The college has seven labs dedicated to specialisation namely, Educational Technology, Science, Psychology, Languages, Social Science, and Work Experience labs well-equipped with necessary tools and apparatus. For overall development, it provides sports facilities, a gym, and an auditorium for cultural as well as academic events. A canteen, a health centre with first-aid facilities, and transport services fulfill the requirements of the students and promote a friendly and academic atmosphere in college. 

Janata College of Education offers three full-time courses in education, which covers teacher training at all levels. The B.Ed and M.Ed courses have a capacity to intake 100 students in each course, and there is an extra option for a D.Ed course. These programmes are specially designed to give the student an experience and expertise in teaching after the course completion. The mode offered at the college is only a full-time in-class mode, offering students quality training in addition to sufficient interaction with peers while on hands-on experience.

Merit-based admission process is followed in Janata College of Education, which depicts the commitment level in terms of academic excellence by the institution. The State government and university framed rules and regulations are followed to grant admissions to candidates for B.Ed programme, on the basis of marks acquired in the qualifying examinations and/or entrance test. The M.Ed programme doesn't concede any relaxation in terms of admission to its courses. Purely based on merit, the marks from the qualifying examination, entrance examination, or any other selection process, as may be specified by the government and university guidelines, are considered for admitting a student. This allows the college to attract a whole crop of dedicated, capable students, all pumped up and single-mindedly keen to take on a career in education.
