Jawahar Lal Nehru College, Chakradharpur, was established in 1967 and is one of the largest districts in Jharkhand region of India. The constituent college of this institution is based across a 3. 5 acres of university land and was founded over five decades ago. It is an NAAC accredited institution which provides various Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes. JLN College has a student strength of 5343 students and faculty of strength 12 making it a lively institution. The institution supports the balanced gender policy whereby it has 1,674 male and 2,156 female students.
For its part, the college has endowment to foster modem infrastructural facilities for the college as it discharges its academic activities. There is a boys and girls hostel for students and it’s managed by the welfare department of Government of Jharkhand. It is an asset to the school, which boasts of a collection of over thirty three thousand, three hundred books only. In this respect, the college has functional departmental laboratories for practical sessions as part of skills acquisition. The campus has also developed canteen, Wi-Fi connection also the best IT facilities to support the students learning process.
The JLN College currently has seven degree programmes and provides the largest number and variety of courses with 22 courses at its disposal. The institution offers full time undergraduate and post graduate programmes in arts commerce and science streams. Some of the recognized programmes are B.A. (Honours) in English, History, Political Science, B.Com. (Honours) in Accountancy & Computer Applications, B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. This means that the college also has postgraduate programmes such as Master of Arts in History and Hindi.
