Perteoleum Engineering is an excellent option to go for if interested in the field. JNTU Kakinada has a great infrastructure, experienced faculty and lots of other opportunities. The petroleum engineering department is the youngest and the curriculum is interesting. Placements are fine and may get better in coming years due to it's location in the KG Basin. IT companies do visit and you can sit for software jobs provided you should be good at coding and logics.
All the best!
JNTUK is a good for petroleum engineering among all other colleges of southern India.
Its the only college in south India from where candidates have qualifed GATE since the last 3 years, in petroleum engineering. This year rank 5 has been acquired by a candidate from JNTUK and two others within rank 100 are from JNTUK.
Regarding placement, JNTUK may not be a very good choice as their past records are not very good. But the quality of education is up to the mark.
Hope this helps.
Petroleum engineering at JNTU, Kakinada is a good and decent choice to go with. The infrastructure and faculty is brilliant even though the department is quite new in the the college. However, due to a bit of poor management from the college placement cell, few core companies only visit for recruitment. The situation may improve in the coming years especially due to it's ideal location near KG Basin.
