Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya, Sonamura is a co-ed, government college that was established in 1988 with the aim of to ascertain and propagate learning among the folks of this extreme western region of the state Tripura. The College is affiliated to the Tripura University and is administered by the Department of HIgher Education, Government of Tripura. The college is UGC recognised and NAAC accredited with a grade B. The institute offers 4 degrees and 13 courses. The courses being offered are limited to the undergraduate level. While the degrees being offered are- B.A (Hons), B.A, B.Sc and B.Sc(Hons). The admissions into the college take place through the merit of the candidate in the 10+2 examination. The campus occupies 21 acres of land and houses a library with a rich collection of books, girls hostel facility, well-equipped science laboratories, the college also has sports facilities, co-curricular activities, IT infrastructure, cafeteria, an auditorium and a health centre are a few of the facilities and infrastructure that the college provides its students with. The institute has fee waiver schemes for girl students provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
