Kirodimal Government Polytechnic, Raigarh was established in the year of 1956. This institution is one of the prime ventures in the Chhattisgarh region for providing technical education. This AICTE-approved college at Chakradhar Nagar has been continuously grooming technical talent since the last sixty-plus years. This affiliated college offers a wide range of diploma courses under six engineering disciplines. Kirodimal Government Polytechnic offers six full-time diploma programs, each of three years duration. These are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering. Total intake capacity is 440 at the undergraduate level for all the courses taken together, while Mechanical and Electrical Engineering have the highest intakes of 120 seats each. The polytechnic also introduced, during 2008-09, three part-time diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, which would help working professionals in neighboring industries. 

The admission process to Kirodimal Government Polytechnic is duly structured to be fair and based on merit. Although it does not provide detailed information regarding the admission procedure, normally, most of the polytechnics consider the performance of the candidates in entrance examinations and previous academic records. There are separate hostels for boys and girls in the institution with an intake capacity of 150 boys and 100 girls. Hostel admission is made subject to college admission and availability in merit cum reservation policy basis.
