Lakshmi college of education Dindigul was established in the year 1967 situated at Gandhigram Tamil Nadu. It is a co-educational institute – an affiliated college under the Act of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). To produce well equipped qualified educators, the college has a programme in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). The institute is run by a team of 6 members and ensures the delivery of quality education is delivered in a conducive environment. Located in the campus of Gandhigram the college has the vision to produce teacher education professionals of the future to bring change in the society.

The Lakshmi college of education offers every students facilities that are aimed at enhancing their academic and personal development. It consists of 8,892 books, 326 dissertations, 7 journals, 15 magazines 120 back volumes, and an extensive book-bank facility for low-income students. The IT facilities consists of a computerised centre properly furnished with six personal computer whereby students are taught computer skills and in development of CAI packages. The college also has well established laboratories for English (language lab), mathematics, physical sciences, biological sciences, home sciences, and psychology. In a way of physical fitness, there major facility for sports equipment as well as good playgrounds. Students are availed free medical services from the 200 bedded Kasturba Hospital which is Gandhi gram Trust. 

As of now, the college offers only one full-time programme, which is the Bachelor of Education or B.ed. This two year programme has an approved enrolment quota of one hundred students. The B.Ed course is instituted with the goal of preparing a worthy generation of teachers for the teaching profession.

The admission criteria to Lakshmi College of Education is purely merit based; the performance in the qualifying examination and/or the entrance test. In terms of admission, the college maintains closeness to the state government, Union Territory administration and the affiliated university.
