Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including coursework and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned. This ph.d program is offered by the University of Madras, Chennai


Eligibility Criteria

(i) M.A/M.Sc or M.Phil Degree in Economics from UGC/AICTE/approved institutions including institutions of national and state importance.

(ii) At least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade to percentage) at Master’s degree; A relaxation of 5% of marks (i.e., 55% to 50%, or equivalent grade) may be allowed for SC/ST/MBC/OBC/Differently-Abled candidates.

Admission Details

Admission Procedure based on Test and Interview Procedure Candidates with an overall cumulative of at least 50% in the total score and a minimum of 50% in the interview will only be considered for final selection.
