The periodontology program is focused on providing dentists with the latest skills to address increased demands for periodontal treatment, esthetics, and maintenance. The program specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of supporting structure diseases of the teeth in an effort to provide graduates with clinical excellence and research in the specialty. The curriculum entails all the elements of periodontal health and disease, such as periodontal regeneration, surgical and non-surgical treatment, esthetics procedures, and oral implantology.

The mds in periodontology program teaches students about all types of periodontal treatment to become highly skilled in conventional and contemporary therapy procedures.

They are adequately taught the etiology, clinical presentation, and differential diagnosis of tooth and alveolar structure oral disease, which is crucial in the prevention of teeth loss.

The course encompasses the biochemical, microbiologic, and immunologic background of periodontal pathology, thus enabling effective treatment of complicated and advanced periodontal illness.

The mds periodontology program allows dental practitioners with the authority to succeed in clinical practice, education, and research, having knowledge of the latest advancements in periodontal treatment and oral implantology.


Eligibility Criteria

In order to take admission in mds in periodontology course, the candidates are required to submit the following documents with the fee as prescribed:

  • Pass/degree certificate of BDS from a recognized university of Dental Council of India (DCI) or equivalent
  • Original marks cards of all exams passed of the university (I to IV BDS years)
  • Attempt certificate issued by the Principal
  • Certificate of completion of compulsory rotatory internship from a recognized dental college
  • Registration certificate from Dental Council of any State or Dental Council of India
  • Documentary proof of SC/ST or Category I, if eligible

Admission Details

  • Admission to the mds in periodontology is on the basis of uniform entrance test, most commonly NEET MDS, as per Central Government regulations. There may also be state-level or university-level entrance examinations by some colleges.
  • The candidates are given a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET MDS for General category. Minimum is 40th percentile for SC, ST, and OBC categories. Minimum is 45th percentile for candidates with locomotor disabilities.
  • Admission is given on merit basis, i.e., entrance test performance followed by centralized counseling and seat allotment.
