Manikchand Dhariwal Institute of Management and Rural Technology, popularly known as MDIMRT, was established in the year 1987 as an affiliated college. The institution is located in Shirur Ghodnadi, Pune, Maharashtra, and it is situated on the Pune-Nagar Highway, spread over a compact area of 2.471 acres. MDIMRT offers postgraduate education in the field of advanced computer science with the Master of Computer Applications course.The faculty at this college remains 3 in number so as to pay individual attention to its students.

Manikchand Dhariwal Institute of Management and Rural Technology has a variety of facilities meant to enrich the student experience. The institute has a well-stacked library with over 12,000 books related to subjects such as computer science and management, along with journals nationally and internationally reputed. The library also houses a full-fledged CD and DVD section consisting of more than 100 technical and soft skills resources. For practice-oriented learning, MDIMRT has state-of-the-art computer laboratories with HCL/IBM servers and desktops fully networked and air-conditioned. Both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available such as table tennis, chess, football, cricket, and volleyball. A gymnasium and special programs in yoga and aerobics are managed for the physical well-being of students. It has a separate hostel facility for girls and boys, fully furnished with attached facilities.

The Institute is currently offering only one main course, that is, MCA. This is a full-time course of two years designed to equip the students with in-depth knowledge in computer applications. The admission to the MCA course in MDIMRT is based on the Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test, MAH MCA CET, in line with the uniform admission process of the state for its postgraduate computer applications programmes.

Admission to MDIMRT is mainly made for the MCA course. Candidate has to appear for the MAH MCA CET, which is the primary Entrance Exam, for admission in the course. It is a state level examination conducted to further maintain uniformity in the assessment of students across the state of Maharashtra.
