About NIS Chennai
National Institute of Siddha (NIS) was inaugurated on September 3, 2005 in Chennai, Tami Nadu. NIS, Chennai is affiliated with TN Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. National Institute of Siddha Chennai was established by the combined cooperation of Central and State Governments co-operation. The initial capital cost was shared by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of India in the ratio of 40:60. The NIS Syllabus and Curriculum are based on the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi.
NIS Chennai offers UG and PG courses in the Siddha system of medicine including BSMS, and MD respectively. NIS MD courses are available in streams like Siddha Gunapadam, Siddha Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam, Siddha Maruthuvam, Siddha Noi Nadal, Siddha Nanju Maruthuvam, Siddha Pura Maruthuva, Siddhar Yoga Maruthuvam and MD Siddha Varma Maruthuvam. The new Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) course was started from the academic Year 2022-23 onwards.

NIS Chennai is situated at a distance of about six km from Chennai Airport, 24 km from Chennai MGR Central Railway Station and 2 km from Tambaram Railway Station. The nearest Railway station is Tambaram Sanatorium Railway Station which is located just 100 meters from NIS Chennai. Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) | 60 | The candidate should be a citizen of India. Students should have passed the 12th class from a recognized board or equivalent. Candidates must have studied Tamil as one of the subjects in the 10th or 12th class. Candidates should have appeared in the NEET exam with a valid scorecard. Candidates who have not studied Tamil will have to study Tamil as an additional subject during the 1st Professional BSMS session for 18 months. |
NIS Chennai BSMS Admission Procedure
Interested candidates have to apply for the NIS Chennai UG admission on or before the specified date.
Candidates are shortlisted based on the NEET score.
Candidates who are shortlisted are invited to appear in the counselling session.
Once the seat is confirmed, candidates have to pay the required admission fee.
NIS Chennai MD Admission 2024
For NIS Chennai MD admission, candidates must have completed Siddha graduates with a BSMS Degree. Candidates can get the other NIS Chennai admission details like seat intake and eligibility details from the table below.

NIS Chennai MD Admission Procedure
Candidates need to apply for the NIS Chennai PG admission on or before the due date.
Candidates are shortlisted based on the AIAPGET score.
Those who are shortlisted are called to appear in the counselling process.
Once the seat is confirmed, candidates have to pay the required admission fee.
Note: Out of 58 seats in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Siddha course, one seat is reserved for candidates from foreign Countries.
