The constituent college established in the year 1951 is the Post Graduate College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad abbreviated as PGCS. This institute is co-educational institution situated in Hyderabad city and it occupies an area of 18.173 acres. Presently, PGCS hosts 22 different courses delivered through four degree programs for the total of 1,336 student enrollment. The college currently employs 21 vibrant teachers from different fields to enhance the student teacher ratio. Being a constituent college of Osmania University, PGCS has indeed qualitative recognition in the field of science education with various specialization in the fields such as Physics, Chemistry, geology, Botany and computer science etc.
PGCS is also qualified to ensure that the students attain a sound understanding of education. In accommodation service the college provides various amenities for learners’ academic and personal development. The library is located in a large hall of 3500 sq. ft and has organized a collection of 16545 books of basic as well as applied science and general reference type. As for the facilities for sports, the college has provided 3 acres space for outdoor games plus extra arrangements for indoor sports. An added advantage for college is that it has qualified laboratories for each department in order to facilitate practical sessions. Further, PGCS has incurred the cost of developing modern IT infrastructure to enhance the institution’s capacity in meeting technological advancement in education.
A wide range of undergraduate and post graduate programs are provided in the college. Minors offered at undergraduates include, B.Sc Mathematics and Physics, BSc Botany and Zoology, Chemistry, Innovative self finance BSc Biotechnology, Botany or Chemistry. It has Master’s degrees in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Physics and Mathematics, proposed with regular and self-finance quota. The college also has niche programmes such as MCA as well as B.Sc (Computer Science) (Hons) to meet the increasing trend of computer and IT sector. All the courses are of full time nature and give students profound understanding and skills in the chosen fields.
