    About Province College, Guwahati

    Affiliated college of Gauhati University, located in Guwahati, Assam, Province College was established in the year 1998. Located in Siva Path, Dr. R.P. Road, Dispur; this institution has been in the service of educating the people of the region for more than two decades now. It is duly recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for providing qualitative education in the stream of teacher training. The student enrolment for Province College is 517 and it has 16 faculties and the courses offered in the college are generalised and offered in many specialisation areas. The college includes state of the art facilities that are supposed to improve the learning environment of the students. 

    A fully equipped library in form of a knowledge centre makes the students easily access most of their academic requirements. For those interested in the modern technologies the college provides great IT facilities that let the students progress in the field of information technologies. Departmental laboratories contribute to pragmatic understanding of subjects as learning occurs physically unlike in theory. Province College also focuses on concerns to do with student welfare through provision of a health unit which contains a first aid department. For students who like to hit the gym, there is a gym facility well equipped on campus.     The admission criteria in Province College is mostly competitive, this can attributed to the schools focus on the achievement of the students. Except in a handful of cases, such as B.Com and assorted BA Honours in Assamese, Education, English, and Political Science, final admission is made based on merit, left to the discretion of the Principal. In this way, the college maintains its high academic level and offers the opportunities for the deserving students. The B.Ed programme though has the same idea, but the processes followed are in a little bit different manner. The admission to this course is done by giving the necessary weight age for the marks obtained in the qualifying examination or entrance examination as per the norms of the state government and university.

    Yes, this college was good infrastructure and decent facilities and equipment. There was not wifi facility, smart classroom and boards. Campus was decent and clean was maintained. This was moderate experience.
