Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology, Post Graduate Centre for Management Studies, Berhampur (PGCMS SMIT) is one of the reputed institute in the field of technical education imparting in Ankushpur, Berhampur, Odisha. This affiliated college was set up in 1981 and it has been producing management professionals for more than 40 years. It has got the approval from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which makes it to offer standard education. PGCMS SMIT is located on a fairly small piece of ground that occupies 1.035 acres of land, which is ideal for teaching. Currently the student population stands at one hundred and fourteen students and the institute has 9 faculty members. The PGCMS SMIT is a management education providing institution offering only one programme in Business Administration.

Among the amenities available within the institute, and aimed at improving the Student experience and academic endeavors are; It has separate hostels for boys and girls and has neat well furnished rooms with attached bath and other basic facilities. For the academic materials, PGCMS SMIT has a central library and also has a book bank exclusively for MBA students which stocks books from premier publishers. The institute also has a special reference section for carrying out independent and group study. With a view to acquiring competency on the new technologies, the college has installed state-of-art computer lab coupled with terminal with computer hardware and software and internet connection. This arrangement enables students to engage with resources from all around the world. Also, there is a communicative English lab in the institute for the improvement of the language that is important for the management professionals.

PGCMS SMIT offers a single full-time course: The programme which people widely discuss is the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. This CILt-accredited programme is a two year postgraduate degree and has the capacity of 60 students per year intake. Given specifics of the programme, its purpose is to enhance a student’s management knowledge to help him or her become a leader in different fields of business.

Since most of the students are admitted through SMIT there is little admissions control exercised by PGCMS; however, the admission criteria are based on merit achieved in the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) conducted by Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT). For admission procedure the institute also considers the scores of national level entrance tests for Management, like CAT, XAT and MAT. Criterion of reservation includes 15% number of seats to those having scored CAT/MAT/XAT and another 15% for NRI candidates above mentioned criteria for admissions. This policy create a balanced variety of learners enabling the school to admit students of different diversity.
