Satyam Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) – Amritsar was set up in 2011 as an affiliated college in Punjab. Located in a vast area of 10.2 acres of land SIET provides various courses in engineering which has been accredited from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute today has a total number of 168 students and 54 faculty members on its rolls. This institution offers 7 courses from two degree programs in different areas of engineering like Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The institute has state-of-art and variety of facilities for the development of the students for both academic and extra curriculum activities. Facilities SIET has two different hostels for boys and girls, multi-storied buildings and well furnished. The hostels have attached mess, play rooms with indoor games facilities, T. V, internet and cable connections. For medical treatment, SIET has a medical room with necessary first aid amenities and also organizes periodic doctor’s appointments.  The college Library has more than five thousand books on science and on technology according to the engineering branches. The sports lovers can make use of the playground that is provided; later it includes a running track, football ground, cricket pitch, basketball and tennis courts, indoor games such as table tennis and chess.

In all SIET provides education in 7 courses, out of which 5 B.Tech full time and 2 M.Tech part time. Total intakes of students in all courses amounts to 168 In the institute. The B.Tech programs are offered in computer science engineering, electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and electrical and electronics engineering. At post graduate level, SIET offers Masters in Technology (M.Tech) programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Unfortunately, the admission criteria of the SIET are rigid; the primary criteria used is the Joint Entrance Examination Main rank. For B.Tech programs 85% of the total seat matrix is allocated to students of the state while 15% for students from other states. The institute will accept the score of JEE Main test to offer B.E/ B.Tech programs for the students.
