The School of Biotechnology at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK) is one of the renowned constituent colleges to get set up in the year 2009. This proactive institute is established in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh and aims to enhance the standards of biotechnology instruction and discovery. Being a co-educational institution, admission is open for both boys and girls. It was established under the approval of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) which notifies about maintaining certain academic standards.

The mode of intake into the M.Tech Biotechnology programme in JNTUK’s School of Biotechnology is on a competitive basis based on merit only. Only those students who have cleared national-level tests like GATE or GPAT or state-level tests like APPGCET are eligible for admission. Such tests provide an opportunity to evaluate candidates’ mental abilities and their knowledge in given spheres and let entrants have properly prepare for further studies in the field of biotechnology.
