The school of studies in electronics and photonics was set up in 1994 as a constituent school of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur. Established at Amanaka G.E. Road, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, this institute is devoted to electronics and photonics learning. It is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education, abbreviated as AICTE, in order to encourage standard technical education. 

The School of Studies in Electronics and Photonics has several facilities that aim to provide the best quality learning to its students. The institute has set a standard library that ensures that students get every academic assistance that they need. The IT infrastructure is very good and serves modern teaching-learning methods together with research endeavours. One of the ornaments of the labs is the research lab, which focuses on the simulation and modelling of optoelectronic devices and the deposition of thin-film, solution-processable novel semiconducting films. This lab’s speciality is energy-related research, which encompasses photovoltaic, display device, and solid-state lighting technologies. The institute also has a good alumni network and has WiFi facilities all through the campus so that the students can be connected and have access to the internet. The School of Studies in Electronics and Photonics is offering a total number of 5 courses, out of which all the offered courses are full-time. These include a diploma in renewable energy, an M.Sc. in electronics, an M.Tech. in optoelectronics and laser technology, a Ph.D. in electronics, and an M.Phil. in electronics. 

The admission process for Studies Electronics and Photonics is somewhat different for different relevant programmes of study. The M.Tech programme in Opto Electronics and Laser Technology is possible to join through GATE or through an entrance test done by the university. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the exams where the institute accepts the scores for this programme.
