First, the affiliated college, Shri Kalidas Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, started in the year 1992 is situated in Badami, Karnataka. This is a co-educational institution with CCIM recognition in providing education in Ayurveda. The college is located on 6 acres of land and it has only one course with the sanctioned intake of 176 students, under the title Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). The institute has 22 members in its faculty and it has a good strength of students per faculty ratio. The aim of Shri Kalidas Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital is to preserve and develop the Indian system of traditional Ayurveda.
Shri Kalidas Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital on creating a rich learning experience for its learners. They make a provision of number of amenities to facilitate academic and co-curricular activities. Some of the facilities available includes; Practical laboratory, Book library, and an event century and Auditorium, among others. Concerning the physical aspect, students are provided with the sports facilities and a gym. The college also has a health center which houses first aid facilities. Despite this, IT infrastructure exists to support the methods of the twenty first century learning. Further, it also has hostel for boys and girls separately so that outstation students can stay comfortably in the institute.
Shri Kalidas Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital only offer the BAMS course; which is a 6 year full time course. The capacities for this programme had been approved to take 40 students per year in the college. This specialised approach enables the institution to deploy human and material resources and focus more in practicing and producing quality Ayurvedic medical students. The BAMS has been developed to pass on intensive knowledge on Ayurveda, to build up efficient workforce in the area of Ayurveda system of medicine.
Kishanpur the Shri Kalidas Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital is affiliated to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Ayush & Health Sciences University for Admission to BAMS Course aspirants have to take NEET exam. All candidates desirous for taking admission in B.E./B. Tech course must have passed NEET and students are admitted through centralised counselling. The selection depends on the performance of the candidate who took the NEET test. Such standardisation helps the college admit students with adequate backgrounds in sciences, without which learning Ayurvedic medicine is very difficult. Its BAMS programme is quite popular for offering a wide spectrum of theoretical and practical knowledge on Ayurveda and on modern medicine as well.
