SIWS NR Swamy College of Commerce and Economics and Smt Thirumalai College of Science, Mumbai, are two of the leading colleges in the campuses of Mumbai. The college is situated at Sewree Wadala Estate, Mumbai. Since the college is affiliated with the University of Mumbai, it follows bachelor's as well as post-graduation courses in streams that have commerce and science. Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the institute sprawls over an area of 2 acres. Total enrolment in the college stands at 1,984. The strength of the faculty in the college stands at 56. The student-teacher ratio is therefore quite balanced. 

SIWS NR Swamy College has provided a range of facilities to enhance the learning experience of its students. The library has a collection of 15,000 print books and about 55 print periodicals on subscriptions. In addition to this, the library also allows access to various programmes/subjects e-resources through the NLIST Programme of INFLIBNET facilities. The campus comprises six computer laboratories along with an electronics laboratory that helps students gain hands-on experience. For the maintenance of health and fitness, there is a gymnasium and a health centre with first aid facilities. Apart from providing an auditorium for events and seminars, the college also provides sports facilities for indoor games such as Carom, Chess, and Table Tennis and a canteen that serves varied cuisines. 

SIWS NR Swamy College offers a total of 17 courses, ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate programmes of the college comprise B.Com and B.Sc in Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Computer Science, and many more specialised programmes like B.Com Banking and Insurance and B.Sc in Information Technology. The postgraduate course of the college comprises M. Com programmes such as Accountancy, Banking and Finance, and Business Management, along with M. Sc programmes in Organic Chemistry by Research and Information Technology. The institute offers a programme leading to the award of a Ph.D. in Business Economics. Most of these courses are full-time with equal numbers of regular and self-financed students. 

Admission at SIWS NR Swamy College is strictly on merit, with government and the University of Mumbai rules being followed. For postgraduate courses like M.Com too, admission is strictly in order of merit without a cut-off for any of the categories. The various entrance tests accepted by the college include the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (Maha SET), and State Level Eligibility Test (NESLET) for a few courses only. College offers scholarships to its eligible students. The college also provides an energetic alumni network, thereby linking the present students to the alumnus.
