Sri Poornaprajna Evening College, a premier institution, was established in the year 1966 under the Poornaprajna Education Society at Udupi of Karnataka State. The college is affiliated with Mangalore University, accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), has been educating minds for over 50 years. Located in a 6.5 acre piece of land, the college provides a suitable atmosphere for learning. The institution has a total strength of 642 students, and the faculty comprises 26 members, so the ratio stands tall at 24:1 which is highly favourable for our students and for delivering quality education.
Sri Poornaprajna Evening College has several magnificent infrastructures that, in one way, help to improve the learning process. The library, with new acquisitions of over 4,000 volumes over the last five years alone, is a resource centre for the students with an eleven thousand 286 volumes collection of books and rising. The Poornaprajna Auditorium, which has a sitting capacity of 1200, is used for conducting cultural as well as academic programmes.
The college is well equipped with athletic sports and physical facility needs, and the gym is fully equipped. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and that facilitates not only internet connectivity but also the carrying out of effective communication. A spacious canteen with a seating capacity of 108 provides commodity-rate nutritious food of different reliabilities. The college also has hostels for male and female students from other districts to enable them to stay in the college.
Sri Poornaprajna Evening College has the following three programmes: Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Commerce. The B.Com and BA courses take three years to complete; the M.Com course takes two years. These courses are intended to provide students with adequate academic content and professional training with a view to ensuring that they secure challenging job markets in their respective disciplines. The total intake of the college in terms of courses and students stands at 642 and the college has ensured that it enrols optimum strength per section to ensure an effective teaching and learning process prevails.
