About SXC Ranchi
St Xaviers College Ranchi was founded in 1944 by the Ranchi Jesuit Society, it is an autonomous college affiliated with Ranchi University. St Xaviers College is also known as SXCRAN. St Xaviers College has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has been recognised as the “College with Potential of Excellence” by the University Grant Commission. Earlier, St Xaviers college was first affiliated to Patna University, from 1950 to 1960 college was under Bihar University, then finally St Xaviers College got affiliation from Ranchi University. St Xaviers College is a minority educational institution based on the religion established and it is administered by the Ranchi Jesuit Province of Society of Jesus. St Xaviers College aims to educate young students to become intellectually, socially and spiritually committed to the service of humanity, and also provides education to underprivileged students, especially the tribal students of the region.

In terms of infrastructure college is average there is no proper washroom in most of the building, canteen food is also poor. Gym is good at very reasonable price with lot of equipments, there is 3 computer labs 3 three canteen 1 playgrond.

It's a little different for both the colleges.
If you are willing to take admission in St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, then you have to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the college. The selection process is based on the marks obtained in the entrance exam. So, the board exam cut-off does not matter. However, candidates will be eligible to apply for admissions to this college only if he/she gets a minimum aggregate of 50% in 12th board exam from a recognized institute.
Candidates willing to take admission in Calcutta University should have completed 12th boards from a recognized institute with a minimum aggregate of 50%. The candidate has to apply to the respective colleges under Calcutta University & wait for the counselling process to begin. The cut off for BA Geography Hons. in Calcutta University cannot be predicted this year due to the confusion in the board exam results of the various boards but if you have got around 85% & above then you have a probability of getting a seat. Having said that, you should apply for your choice of college & wait for the counselling process to begin, you may get a seat.
