Surya College of Engineering and Technology (SCET) was set up in the year 2008, is an engineering college at Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. At present, the institute offers 6 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate programmes in 13 full-time disciplines. At the undergraduate level for SCET, the duration of the course is four years for offering the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programmes, including Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. For the Architecturally inclined students, the college also has a degree programme called B.Arch. At the postgraduate level, SSCE offers MBA and M.Tech CAD CAM, Computer Science Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, and VLSI Design. The total admitted capacity for all courses for the students of SCET is 622, which helps to maintain the rich feel and atmosphere of a diversified educational institute.

Every channel of admission of students at Surya College of Engineering and Technology is standard and equitable in the college, thus making it fair to students. For undergraduate engineering programmes, admissions are primarily conducted through three quotas: Government of India Quota, Management of India Quota and the Foreigner’s / NRI Quota. The admissions under the Government Quota are also through counselling done by the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission, known as TNEA. The candidates are required to approach the secretary of TNEA to apply for counselling. The Management Quota also works similarly and comes through the TNEA counselling. For the NRI Quota, anyone who has parents living outside the country can apply and also get admissions on a merit basis. This diverse admission structure increases the plurality of opportunities provided to students, increasing the overall enrolment of excellence of SCET.
