The Surya College of Engineering and Technology (SCET), Villupuram, provides quality engineering education in Tamil Nadu. The college offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering and management fields. The Surya College of Engineering and Technology admission processes are adopted to painstakingly filter able and worthy candidates through various national and state-level entrance examinations. Surya College of Engineering and Technology admission cycles largely commence sometime in May to June and end just before the start of classes in August or September for the academic year. The Surya College of Engineering and Technology accepts applications through different channels for different programmes and modes of admission. Generally, for undergraduate engineering, three major quotas are followed for admissions: Government Quota, Management Quota, and NRI Quota.
For the Government and Management Quotas, admissions are given on the basis of TNEA counselling. Candidates should apply for TNEA counselling through the secretary of TNEA. The NRI quota would be for candidates whose parents are abroad, and admissions are based on merit. The minimum eligibility for any undergraduate programme requires completion of 10+2 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the required subjects. For postgraduate programmes, a bachelor's degree must have been completed by candidates in a relevant discipline from any accredited university.
Surya College of Engineering and Technology has a different application process in accordance with the chosen programme and quota:
Applying for a course is contingent upon meeting its prerequisites.
B.Tech/BE programmes offered by the SCET are Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Cyber Security, and Agricultural Engineering. As for admission, the procedures are carried out via TNEA counselling for Government Quota and Management Quota for all the programmes, with 60 seats in each programme.
An MBA programme with an approved 60 seats is provided in the college. However, details of the Surya College of Engineering and Technology admission procedure are absent; therefore, one can safely assume that admissions are based on TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) scores and followed by TANCET counselling.
The SCET conducts the programmes of M.Tech in CAD CAM, Construction Engineering and Management, Computer Science Engineering, and VLSI Design. However, depending on the specialisation, the approved intake may vary from 12 to 24 seats. The detailed admission procedure is not mentioned, although in all probability, those seeking Surya College of Engineering and Technology for M.Tech programmes in Tamil Nadu are expected to do so through TANCET scores or GATE scores and through counselling.
