University School of Mass Communication (USMC), New Delhi is one of the constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, which came into existence in 2010. This is a co-educational institution which is located in Sector-16C, Dwarka and focus on Mass communication programmes. However, it is still quite young and has set its roots firmly within a decade, and yield meaningful result becoming the well-established contributor in the sphere of media education. The school offers two degree programmes: aimed at the needs of the modern mass media industry, the programme offer Master of Mass Communication and Master of Philosophy in Mass Communication respectively as well as Doctor of Philosophy in Mass Communication. The University School of Mass Communication offers two full-time courses: The degree programmes include the two-year Master of Mass Communication (MMC) and the six-year research-focused doctoral degree in Mass Communication.The MMC programme must have a broad ranging curriculum for students interested in various media fields such as journalism, advertising, public relations and new media. The Ph.D. programme, at the same time, permits the enhancement of knowledge and or knowledge in the area of mass communication and addition to the set theory in a field which scholars and researchers agreed is evolving at a very fast rate.

Tuition and enrollment details differ from one programme to the other in USMC. For the Ph.D. in Mass Communication, the course work involves selecting candidates for the Research Aptitude Test (RAT) for every academic year for admission. But candidates who has UGC-JRF (University Grants Commission – Junior Research Fellowship) can avoid this test as they are already proved their research abilities.
