Urumu Dhanalakshmi College, located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu state of India was established in year 1970 and it is affiliated college. Located across a land area of 25.6 sections of land, the organisation provides a wide scope of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The college provides a student-teacher ration meanly it has total 2,720 students enrolment and total 50 faculty members. It affirms to the quality assurance standards set by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Urumu Dhanalakshmi College provides 65 courses in various subjects on 13 degrees in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management streams.

Urumu Dhanalakshmi College has put in place some facilities that enhance the teaching and learning as well as the development needs of the students. The central library was set up in 1970 with adequate number of text books, reference books, latest journals and e-resources available. It has automation through the NIRMAL software for this process. This campus has several auditoriums and seminar halls consisting of an Audio Visual Hall with Air Conditioning and several seminars hall for each department. There are sports grounds and gymnasiums, a health centre for the physical health of the students. The college also offers other facility of hostel for boys as well as girls for the accommodation of the out-station students.

As a self financing college, it provides a large number of academic programmes for the students and faculty members. It has 28 under part programmes, 15 postgraduate programmes, 10 master of philosophy levels and 12 doctor of philosophy levels, 65 courses in total. These courses cut across fields of study such as Economics, Mathematics & statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Social work, Tamil, English, Computer science, Microbiology etc. It should however be noted that the college offers aided and unaided programmes and both full time and part time with the research option being dominant. 

The requirements for admission into Urumu Dhanalakshmi College follows that of its affiliated university with the student joining the institution being admitted strictly on merit.
