    About Westbank School of Nursing, Howrah

    Westbank School of Nursing, located in Howrah, was set in 2012 exclusively for imparting nursing education. At present, it is therefore a pioneer institute of West Bengal, INDIA. This co-educational institution is situated in Chunawti Andul Road, Howrah-711109. Since this has been approved by the INC, the course offered is more shot not only in West Bengal but also in India. Westbank School of Nursing is a small institution with a total enrolment of 89 students and 11 members of the faculty. The institute provides three specialised nursing programmes: a 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course and a one-year Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing, and four years of B.Sc Nursing, which address different parts of the nursing career.

    A number of facilities are available in the institute in order to affect the learning approach and the individual advancement of the students. So male and female students may have separate hostel accommodations so that they can feel easily comfortable during their studies. The college has a good library with a huge collection of books on nursing; students can, therefore, borrow a lot of literature on nursing. Clinical laboratories are used for specific aspects of nursing practice with facilities to enable the students to gain hands-on experience. 

    For extracurricular activities and events, the college boasts of an auditorium. It is also necessary to note that students can also order meals in the campus cafeteria. People’s welfare is considered with a medical that offers first aid services for anyone that might get injured. In terms of IT, the institute is updated to modern needs of education and also has sports hobbies for the physical and recreational activities of students.

    Westbank School of Nursing has three full-time nursing courses and has a focused area of study. The GNM programme takes three years, and the programme has an approved admission capacity of 30 students for each year of study. This course is one of the main courses offered by the institute, as it gives the students general knowledge on nursing and midwifery. The second programme is the Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing, which is offered for one year, introducing nurses to further and advanced knowledge in oncology nursing.
